Get Your Girls Together: Experience the Healing Powers of Yosemite National Park

There’s something so magical about Yosemite National Park. If you’ve been there, then you know what we’re talking about. But if not, well, let us remind you why it’s worth a visit.

Located in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, Yosemite is best known for its waterfalls, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, and a vast wilderness area, which encompasses about 95% of its nearly 1,200 square miles. It became a national park in 1890 and was designated a World Heritage site in 1984, currently protected and managed by the U.S. National Park Service.

Yosemite is picturesque. Its natural beauty, creatively captured by many amateur and professional photographers alike–just check out Instagram, is inviting. You can’t help but be awed by the fact that such a place like it exists. The images alone encourage you to book the next flight out to California and see it all in person.

And you can be in the center of it all. Through Yosemite Mountain Healing Retreats, you can experience the healing powers of this national treasure. The lodge where the retreats take place is one of the first homes built in Yosemite West, designed to help you “unwind from the hectic world and restore, rejuvenate, heal and connect back to self”.

The lodge’s owner, Michelle Caranto (whom we’ve met once before and gotten to know), grew up in Yosemite where she continues to “find inner peace and want to share this love by teaching self-healing and balance of mind, body and soul”.

But what inspired her to turn her childhood home into a mindfulness sanctuary? She explains, “As a mother of 3, I realized the importance of self-care and want to make it easily accessible to women. This inspired me to bring women together for a few days of healing and restorative retreat.” She joined forces with licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Melissa Garner Lee and founded Yosemite Mountain Healing Retreats.

Yosemite Mountain Healing Retreats is a great place and opportunity for individuals, couples, families and groups to disconnect from technology, reconnect with nature, and find balance. Depending on the package you select, activities can include mindfulness training, sound baths, restorative yoga, SUP yoga and leisure paddling, guided nature walks and hikes to name a few.

Retreats can be any length of days (long weekend or week-long), organic meals and snacks are provided, and Michelle and Melissa will work with you to put together an itinerary ideal for your group. Cost varies depending on the package you select, but if you prefer the bare bones and only want to rent the lodge, it’s $700/night (plus $200 cleaning fee and 12% tax).

And when is the best time to pay Yosemite a visit? Michelle suggests, “Spring and Fall–before Memorial Day and after Labor Day because it gets too crowded over the summer to truly enjoy the place.” For more information or to start planning your girls’ retreat, visit www.YosemiteMountainHealingRetreats.com.
