What happens when a workaholic and fitness fanatic, both with a love for music and drumming, get together and collaborate? POUND. Their names are Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboom, and they created a unique workout program designed for the music lover in all of us, certain to give you a fat-blasting, calorie-burning (400-900+/hour, to be exact), strength-building head-to-toe workout for a knockout body, all while jamming to the beat of your favorite music. This POUND duo just took fitness to a whole different level!
Using a pair of patented “exercise drumsticks” cleverly called Ripstix®, POUND incorporates cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, and plyometrics and isometric poses into a 45-60 minute high-energy workout “to strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique”.
This program is fun-packed, made to get anyone hooked regardless of age or fitness level, and ideal for the average person who doesn’t particularly like the idea of physical fitness. You’ll be so focused on drumming like a rockstar so much, as if on stage performing in front of a large audience, you’ll forget that you’re working out! This is what we mean:
Not a good enough reason to give it a shot? Kirsten and Cristina provided an even better one: “As soon as someone new tries POUND for the first time, she will experience what we call “the permission to rock.” POUND unlocks the inner potential of every woman to be a confident, badass, fit, happy person. Once women feel the power of POUND, they feel unbridled permission to rock at life- in and out of the gym.”
POUND debuted in 2011, and has since gained international popularity, appearing in over 100 markets and getting thousands of people across the globe off their bum and on their feet. So, what keeps the POUND Girls inspired to keep the movement that began as a small class in an L.A. gym going?
“The community of incredible, diverse, supportive people–the #POUNDposse–is our biggest inspiration,” the girls replied, “They perpetuate creativity, push us to grow, and help us see what’s missing. We work with them and for them, and there’s nothing more inspiring than that. They give such a huge sense of purpose to everything we do.”
